How can I manage my diarrhoea?

placeholder

So your doctor has reassured you that you don’t have any serious disease of the bowel and confirmed that your diarrhoea is most likely caused by irritable bowel Syndrome. What can you do about it?

Watch your diet

While your bowels are very active, avoid dairy foods and fruits and eat bland foods such as steamed white fish or chicken, rice, potatoes and cut down on fruits, dairy, fatty meals or any foods that are likely to stimulate the bowels.  Click here for more information.

Relax and chill out. Give yourself time.

Remember if you are anxious and busy, your bowel is likely to be active too. Click here for more information

Medications

Many treatments for diarrhoea can be obtained over the counter from your local chemist. They come in various categories.  Click here for more information

Probiotics

Try taking a probiotic. Diarrhoea will flush out the beneficial bacterial from your bowel. So try restoring these with a months trial of a probiotic.  Click here for more information.
