Coronavirus, our support for you

The IBS Network is closely monitoring the situation regarding the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK.

As the national charity supporting people living with IBS, our priority is to continue to support our members and wider IBS community throughout this worrying and uncertain time. We are here for you.

Our organisational goal is clear and simple. We are going to protect and sustain The IBS Network during these difficult times. This means, we will continue to operate, keeping our services open and available for members of our community who need them.

Advice and information about coronavirus

We have produced information on coronavirus and IBS and answered some of your most frequently asked questions. Currently, UK government guidance does not say people with IBS are at any increased risk from coronavirus. Although, stress and anxiety at this difficult time may exacerbate IBS symptoms.

Support with your IBS

For advice about your IBS, members of our charity can call our IBS Helpline, which is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 7pm until 9pm.

Members also have access to our team of medical professionals including gastroenterologists, dietitians and complementary therapists through the Ask the Experts online service.

We offer support through our free Health Unlocked online community for people with IBS. Our Facebook page is also very active.

You may find our Self-Care Programme particularly useful during this difficult time. The comprehensive online course includes information about the nature, causes and management of IBS. You can work at your own pace and at a time that suits you.

Support groups

Based on current guidance all support group face-to-face meetings and activities have been suspended. There will be no meetings until further notice. We realise that many people rely on their group meetings for information and support. As an alternative, please do call our helpline if you need to. We are also looking into ways of holding online meetings so please look out for updates.

The IBS Network staff and office

To support the NHS and to protect our staff The IBS Network team will be carrying out all our usual activities, but from our homes. This means that the office will be temporarily closed.
