Being honest and open about how we use your data is very important to us.  If we ask for information about you, we take all possible steps to keep it safe. 

What information do we collect and store:

We (The IBS Network) collect and store both personal and non-personal data.  Personal information includes your name, date of birth, gender, address, email address, telephone number and symptom information.  Non-personal information includes IP addresses, website pages accessed and files downloaded.  

We collect and store this information from those who join up as a donating member, those who have made a purchase from us, those who sign up to receive our newsletter, healthcare professionals interested in working with us, those who have made a donation, volunteers who work for us and our employees.  We make every effort to keep your information safe.

Why do we collect and store this data:

We collect this information to provide our membership services, products, information, to fundraise, for administration, statistical analysis, record keeping, and for the prevention/detection of crime.  We only collect information that we need in order to provide the best service possible.

What do we use this information for:

We use your information to:

- complete a membership application to give you access to our membership services

- process orders for products and deliver these

- process and complete transactions, payments, donations and legacies

- prove that a relationship with you existed and also that it ended

- send you information that we think may be relevant to you (only if given permission)

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we will only send marketing to those who have given us permission to do so, and we will always give you the opportunity to opt out.  You can amend your preferences at any time by contacting us at:

How long do we store your data:

We will keep your information only for as long as we need it to provide you with the goods, services or information you have required, to comply with the law and to ensure we do not communicate with people that have asked us not to.  When we no longer need information, we will always dispose of it securely.

Direct Marketing:

For those who give us consent to do so, we may contact you about:

- other services we provide which may be of interest to you such as new products available in our shop

- events and conferences

- opportunities to participate in research

- support groups in your local area

- opportunities to be a media representative for The IBS Network

We will only contact you by the methods that you specify and we will always let you know how you can change how we contact you and how you can opt out of future marketing from us.

How to change your communication preferences:

In compliance with the GDPR we will only send marketing to those who have given us permission to do so.

- the right to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed

- we are legally required to do so by law

- we are working with a carefully-selected partner that is carrying out work on our behalf, such as, the processing of payments and donations (WorldPay, PayPal and Charities Aid Foundation), to post your quarterly magazine (Central Mailing Service Ltd) and to journalists if you have given us permission to do so. 

We only pass personal data onto them if they abide by the GDPR and only use your information for the purpose it was supplied.

We never sell or share your information to other organisations to use for their own purposes.
